A place full of stories
The Mill at Natur Camping Kuprian
The mill at Natur Camping Kuprian is a true piece of living history.
In 2010, it was lovingly built by Ernst Kuprian by hand. The old mill mechanism from a disused mill was carefully dismantled and reassembled as the heart of our new mill – right on the very spot where, according to records, a mill once stood many decades ago.
Situated directly by the stream, the mill at our campsite in the Ötztal is still powered purely by water,
just like in the old days. Fresh grain is traditionally ground into flour – a fascinating sight that brings the simplicity and authenticity of earlier times back to life.
A special highlight in summer is our bread-baking event at the mill:
In July and August, you can join us every Monday as freshly ground grain is turned into traditional bread. The scent of warm bread, the shared experience, and the tasting together make this a true highlight for the whole family – exciting for children and delightful for adults.
Today, the mill is not only a symbol of tradition and closeness to nature, but also a place of discovery:
Guests of our campsite and visitors from the region are welcome to visit the mill and get an insight into the traditional craft of grain milling.
Whether as a family experience, a small excursion during your holiday, or a cultural highlight at our campsite in the Ötztal – the mill tells stories of the past and connects them
beautifully with the present.
